Let us pray. A brief silence is kept before the prayer.
O God, rich in mercy, by the humiliation of your Son you lifted up this fallen world and rescued us from the hopelessness of death. Pastor’s Prayer – Lord, we thank you for this day and for bringing each person here this morning. Please help us to remember that you are our Heavenly Father ready to catch us when we fall. God catches his children when they stumble and when they fall. He still provides his perfect peace to us in the midst of our perfect storms. So today, help us to choose to trust God and accept the peace that he provides. In your holy name, we pray. Amen.
HYMN OF THE DAY: God of Grace and God of Glory (ELW 705) vs 3-4
APOSTLES’ CREED (ELW p. 152)
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.*
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
